Shahjalal International Airport ranks 9th worst Asian airport

widenews desk : The main global gateway of Bangladesh, Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, has been ranked the ninth worst Asian airport for the third consecutive year, according to a recent survey.

The Guide to Sleeping in Airports website, which evaluates overall airport experience each year based on passenger feedback, has placed the Dhaka Airport in the 9th position in this year’s list of the worst airports in Asia. The airport was kept in the same position in 2014 and 2015.

According to the respondents of the survey released on October 15, immigration lines of the airport are “extremely slow, and waiting for luggage isn’t any better.”

It added that “huge line-ups are seen throughout the terminal, and the overall mess and number of bugs makes waiting in them even more unpleasant than usual. While a few frequent travelers do feel like the mosquito situation is getting better, and transit is becoming more efficient.”

Quoting one of the respondents, The Guide to Sleeping in Airports website stated: “We needed a bus to travel from the plane to the airport but we had to wait around 20 minutes for the bus which was late “due to some unavoidable circumstances.”

Passengers rated airport quality based on six criteria: comfort (rest zones and gate seating); services, facilities and things to do; food options; immigration and security efficiency; customer service and cleanliness.
