widenews desk: Asia-Pacific Business Forum (APBF) 2017, a two-day long summit will start in Dhaka on 8 February.
The theme of apex this year is ‘Regional Integration to Achieve Sustainable Development’.
President Abdul Hamid will inaugurate the forum as the chief guest at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka in the opening day, said Mahbubur Rahman, president of Bangladesh chapter of International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), at a press conference in the city.
Local chapter of ICC and United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) will jointly organize the summit under the supervision of Commerce Ministry.
APBF is a multi-stakeholder discussion forum held annually with the mission to provide the best platform to hold dialogue for the regional public and private sector on the roles and needs of business in achieving inclusive, resilient and sustainable development.
APBF launched in 2004 in Shanghai, China, and has so far attracted over 3,000 participants from business, government, academia and civil society across the region.
Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of ESCAP Dr. Shamshad Akhtar will speak on February 8 at the inaugural session while Commerce minister Tofail Ahmed will speak in the plenary session on February 9.
