widenews desk: President of Singapore Dr. Tony Tan Keng Yam said on Thursday that more Singapore companies would be interested in investing in Bangladesh in near future.
Dr Yam said this when Bangladesh High Commissioner to Singapore Md. Mustafizur Rahman presented his credentials to the President at his official residence.
Following the presentation of credentials, the High Commissioner conveyed warm greetings of President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to the President of Singapore. The President reciprocated the sentiments and conveyed greetings to his Bangladeshi counterparts.
The High Commissioner informed the President of Singapore about huge development activities in Bangladesh under the present leadership, and sought more Singaporean investment in the country, particularly in infrastructure development, industrialisation, tourism and energy sectors taking advantage of the existing investment-friendly atmosphere.
The newly appointed envoy mentioned the presence of 1.5 lakh Bangladeshi workers and their contribution to the economy of both the countries.
He was accorded a ‘Guard of Honour’ by a smart contingent of guards prior to his presenting the letter of Credence and the Letter of Recall of his predecessor to the President, according to a message received here from Singapore.
